There are currently 700 million cars on the road today and the IMF estimates that in the year 2050 there will be about 3 billion cars in the world, with China alone having about as many cars on the road as the entire world has today:

Wasteful examples include spending millions on a dining facility that wasn’t needed once the US began withdrawing troops from Iraq and accepting a multimillion-dollar construction project despite the fixtures being broken, bathrooms not working, and ceilings unfinished:
